The trial is one of the recruiting studies at MD Anderson. There are a total of 16 clinical trials featuring malignant mesothelioma. One of them uses pleurectomy/decortication surgery after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and intensity-modulated radiation therapy.
MD Anderson hosted a phase 2 immunotherapy clinical trial for peritoneal mesothelioma. Doctors gave patients atezolizumab and bevacizumab, which achieved a 40% response rate. Patient survival before disease progression was also nearly 18 months, much better than systemic chemotherapy.
